To Lucio Fontana

Maxim Piatrul
The work is dedicated to the famous Italian artist Lucio Fontana, the founder of "Spaciolism", which he manifested in the middle of the 20th century. L. Fontana entered the history of art with a single gesture - a cut in the space of a two-dimensional object, thus organising the identity between sculpture and "non-sculptural" arts, abolishing the dichotomous contradiction between the flat and the three-dimensional, the two-dimensional and the three-dimensional in the space of visual arts. My diptych represents two objects, a "three-dimensional" and a "two-dimensional" physical state. Rehearsing L. Fontana's gesture on these objects I enter a different, fourth dimension into them, abolishing the dichotomy between the physical and metaphysical in the space of art, creating a "bridge" between the artistic reality of the artist and the work and the viewer's everyday reality of the world of objects and things.
