Andrey Ostashov • Series "2020" Bronze, granite. 22?40, h = 57 cm
This work reveals an authoritative, concentrated figure that openly manifests masculine power. The energy is primarily channeled through the subject’s stance: legs spread wide with knees partially bent, an elbow flared outward, and the left hand resting confidently upon the hilt of a sword tucked into his belt. The overall openness of the posture exudes confidence and a resolute character. The emotional depth of the subject is expressed through his facial features: a slight tilt of the head, squinted eyes, eyebrows arched in an emotional surge, and a tensely set mouth. The hero is depicted semi-nude, with his torso bare and only lightly draped in fabric. His attire is supplemented by protective guards on the limbs and a decorative belt, where combat blades are tucked on both the right and left sides for maneuverability in battle. Pouches are suspended from the front and back of the belt, while small anthropomorphic dolls are attached to the lower plates of the armor. On his feet, he wears open woven footwear reminiscent of Japanese zori. His image defies categorization into a single Asian nationality, instead synthesizing traits from several distinct cultures.
