The work is based on the Tsam dance – a solemn religious ritual, performed in Buddhist monasteries, which among other tasks also serves as a preparation of a man to death. It is an oriental fairy-tale about a sleeping beauty, smoking hashish and seeing death in the mask of a monster. Death, like a miraculous dream, is enveloping, fascinating and swallowing her on the way to the other world. The lithograph "The sacred smoke of death" is in the collection of the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus.
